Is eating what you want getting you the result you really want?
Whenever someone mentions nutrition if you’re like most people you start to feel bored. When we think of nutrition we automatically think of eating foods we don’t like! It is amazing what our body puts up with from what we put into our mouths. It’s also amazing how we rarely make the connection between what we eat and when we start to feel tired, bloated, forgetful, emotional or develop excess love handles or low libido! Instead we blame age or menopause or anything else but what we have been putting into our mouth year after year.
We would never think of putting water into our petrol tank because it would ruin our engine, yet we have developed many habits that involve adding pollutants to our body’s engine. The human body is a complex creation. Just think of all the things it does for us automatically, without giving it any instructions, yet we do not stop to think about what fuel we continually put in it. The most amazing thing of all is that you do not have to do anything drastic to make yourself feel better. You can start to make small, gradual changes and begin to experience the difference almost immediately. One simple and powerful difference you can make that will cause a noticeable improvement to how you feel is to cut down your sugars.
- Think about all the foods you eat which contain added sugars, then reduce the quantity you consume of those foods. Read the labels on all packaged and canned foods before you buy them, then buy the brands with lowest amounts of added sugars.
- Do a little research to see if you would consume less sugar by eating a diet of mostly fresh foods as opposed to packaged foods. Plan to have some low sugar, but sweet foods handy for quick snacks and to beat sugar cravings – fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts are 3 quick suggestions.
