Hi Everyone 🙂
I recently arrived home from a skiing holiday at Thredbo with my daughter Sharyn, son-in-law Richard and almost 4 years old granddaughter Claire. I find by the end of the week I have regained my confidence and then I have a 12 months break and I have to start again.
This year Sharyn had me have a lesson on the first day and she booked Claire into the Milo Ski School. What a difference! I regained my confidence quickly and thoroughly enjoyed the skiing. Claire loved the Milo class so went for 3 days. It is amazing how quickly little ones learn and also they have no fear.
On our last day Sharyn and Richard went much higher than I would dream of and I thought I would leave my skis at the bottom and go on the magic carpet which is like a moving path up the mountain with Claire, so I could help her (what a joke) but that was a BIG mistake! She kept saying “Faster Nanna, faster!” I could not keep up with her so quickly put on my skis. It was so great watching this tiny little girl flying down the slope.
I looked over and saw Sharyn and Richard with a big grin of pride watching. The 4 of us then went on the ski lift. The sight was magical. It was snowing and as we looked down we could see everyone skiing – it was such a wonderful picture.
Something I have seen in story books but have not noticed before was something Sharyn brought to my attention. “Look at my arm,” she said, and there was a snow flake in the shape of a perfect star. I could hardly believe my eyes because most of the flakes were so perfect. That topped of a wonderful week in the snow.
I found the first few days back to be a struggle – getting back to work and back to normal eating because when you’re at the ski slopes you get hungry so go to the cafeteria for lunch and at night we would eat out also.
I would love to hear about your ski adventures and don’t forget to check out Spring Specials.
Here’s To Your Serene Good Health,
Fay Rayner
