Hints and tips for a healthier and more beautiful you 🙂

I have been asked to send out more hints and tips for better health and beauty, so let me know what you think by leaving a comment in the comments box. Here’s your first health tip…
Use the power of the sunlight vitamin – vitamin D
Your immune system is the key to preventing both colds and flu and your first remedy to strengthen your immune system is the sunlight vitamin! Vitamin D3 is critical for a healthy immune system response to viruses.
When your D3 levels are suboptimal, you are more likely to come down with the flu and you will take longer to recover.
Flu complications for children
Children with asthma are much more likely to have serious complications from the flu, but a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial showed that children who have asthma are 6 times less likely to have lung complications from the flu if they take vitamin D!
How to boost the power of vitamin D even more!
Vitamin D works even better when combined with two other natural therapies, zinc and echinacea. The strategies that Dr Frank Shallenberger teaches his patients to prevent flu and cold are:
- Take enough vitamin D3 to get your blood levels between 65-75ng/ml. This amount will vary between different people, but usually average about 5,000 mg daily. You can spend time outside in the morning sun to boost your levels also.
- Take a zinc gluconate with echinacea lozenge every day.
Top 10 vitamin D rich foods
- cod-liver oil
- fish
- fortified cereals
- roosters
- caviar – black and red
- fortified soy products
- salami, ham and sausages
- fortified dairy products
- eggs
- mushrooms
When to start your flu prevention steps
Because we are already into the beginning of winter you need to start this straight away so your immune system has a chance to strengthen before being exposed to these potentially serious viruses.
Here’s to your good health,
Fay
